HM Shah releases BJP Sankalp Patra for WB Polls
NEW DELHI [Maha Media]: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday released its manifesto for the West Bengal Assembly elections, describing it as a “trust letter” for the people of the state.
Unveiling the document in Kolkata, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on the government led by Mamata Banerjee, saying the past 15 years had been like a “nightmare” for the people of Bengal.
Shah announced that if voted to power, the BJP would implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months and provide Rs 3,000 per month to women and unemployed youth.
He also promised 33% reservation for women in government jobs and assured that the 7th Pay Commission would be implemented for state government employees within 45 days, along with pending DA payments.
On law and order, Shah said the party would adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards infiltration and take strict action against cow smuggling along the state’s borders.
He added that a white paper would be issued on alleged corruption under the TMC government, and those involved would face legal action.
Highlighting welfare and development measures, Shah said farmers would be ensured fair prices for their produce, with paddy procurement fixed at Rs 3,100 per quintal.
He also promised a dedicated roadmap for infrastructure development within the first 100 days of forming the government.
The BJP further announced plans to set up a commission for Darjeeling tea plantations, establish premier institutions such as AIIMS, IIT and IIM in North Bengal, and build a “Vande Mataram Museum” to showcase the state’s cultural heritage. A special squad for women’s safety was also proposed.
Polling for the West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and April 29.
Voting in Tamil Nadu will take place in a single phase on April 23. Meanwhile, polling in Assam, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry has already concluded.
